What do I bring/wear to Pilates?

Wear comfortable clothing, ideally non restrictive gym wear.
For women: tracksuit bottoms or legging type bottoms are ideal and a t-shirt/top. For men: tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt are ideal.

Do I need to bring a mat?

Yes, please bring along your own mat

Do I wear runners or practice in bare feet?

You should not wear any type of foot wear while practicing Pilates. You can choose to do the class in your bare feet or wearing socks.

What age group is Pilates for?

Pilates can be beneficial for all ages. All Pilates exercises can be adapted and customised for the individual.

Would you recommend Pilates for Back Pain?

Yes, Pilates is designed to help strengthen the postural muscles. It focuses on both the stomach and back muscles which stabilises the entire body. By having a stronger body over all you can better support your back and overcome back pain.

Will Pilates help me lose weight?

Pilates is not a cardiovascular workout. However once you have moved to more advanced classes or once props are introduced into classes you may find the class a much tougher workout. In conjunction with some cardio work Pilates will compliment any exercise regime very well. It is a form of exercise designed to define muscles and tone the body.

Can I do Pilates if I’m pregnant?

You can participate in a specially tailored Pregnancy Pilates class in the Second and Third Trimester of your pregnancy. Please contact me for further details regarding these classes.
